Gotta be honest the chelicerate is by far my least favourite leviathan. I just cannot see it as anything but a worse reaper. Im like a massive pussy as well, the first time I saw a reaper I just straight up alt F4'd cos fuck that shit (It hadn't even noticed me I just saw it in the distance). but upon my first time seeing a chelicerate I honestly thought it was just a normal creature until I got a bit closer. The cryptosuchus' nearby honestly scared me more than the leviathan roaming around the same area.

given that the aurora is crashed, it's clear that they weren't just performing a gravity maneuver, and were landing instead. so, the quarantine enforcement platform notices that the aurora has slowed down to land, and shoots the ship to destroy it. if the platform shot them during a slingshot maneuver, the aurora would be a wreck in space.

Funnily enough when I first played I thought they were passive because I could swim around near them and and they ignored me. Then I went into bone shark territory with my prawn suit to do some mining and found out the hard way bone sharks absolutely love the prawn suit. I think when the PDA says they can be distracted by light what it really means is they will chew the crap out of the prawn suit’s lighted front.
